The short answer
The short answer
A saved photo can save you work, but it is not permanently valid. Open it from your photo history, confirm that it is still recent enough and matches the current application, then use the available save or print action. Take a new photo when your appearance, the requirements or the original image no longer fit.
Key checks
- Check the original capture date, not just the export date.
- Recheck the current country and document requirements.
- Use only the actions available for the saved photo.
- Keep your own exported copy somewhere you can find it.
Step by step
Open your photo history
Use the app's history or saved-photos view and select the image you want to revisit. Compare the preview with the person as they appear today.
Check date and purpose
Confirm when the original was taken and which application it was prepared for. A previous passport photo may not meet a new visa or ID request.
Read the available actions
A print photo may offer a layout, while a digital photo may offer a file save. An older item may have only its existing file available.
Save again or take a new photo
Export only after reviewing current requirements. If you cannot verify the original image or its suitability, start a fresh photo instead.
Saving again does not reset the photo's age
A new filename or export date does not make an old photograph recent. Authorities measure recency from when the photo was taken. Follow the time limit for the exact application and use a new photo if your appearance has changed.
An old preset is not a current guarantee
Requirements and application routes can change. A saved item may not retain every detail needed for a new submission. If its route is unclear, check the authority's instructions instead of assuming the app has revalidated it.
Keep a useful copy of the export
Use a filename that helps you identify the document and date, and keep the file in a location you control. Do not rely on app history as your only backup when changing devices or reinstalling an app.
Common questions
Can I reuse the same photo for another country's visa?
Only if the photo meets that application's current requirements. Check size, recency, background and file rules independently.
Does exporting an old photo again make it a new photo?
No. The original capture date still determines its age, and the image must still reflect your current appearance.
Official guidance
Requirements can change. Use the issuing authority’s current guidance as your final reference before submitting.
